June 27, 2012

Matlock is pleased to have strengthened our relationship with Kirshenbaum Bond Senecal + Partners, a leading New York-based general market advertising agency, with which we collaborate on our BMW account, by moving our New York staff into their offices. The move allows for more seamless integration of our and their work for BMW and provides more opportunities for working together on other clients.

Happy Father’s Day, especially to our Matlock family fathers!

Wilton Wallace,  likes to celebrate Father’s Day by playing golf.

Happy Father’s Day to all Fathers everywhere!! Here at Matlock, we would like to give a special call out to our fathers…and even a few grandfathers!

To celebrate this special day, we asked our Matlock dads about Father’s Day, how they like to celebrate Father’s day and most importantly, what being a father means to them. Read on….

Kent Matlock, Chairman and CEO, and father to a sixteen year old son and two four-legged kids.

How will you celebrate Father’s day? I will go to church and then just kick back and take it easy for the rest of the day unless someone wants to take me out to dinner!

What is the best Father’s Day gift you have ever received? The best father’s day gift was a drawing from my son when he was a toddler.

Is there anything you’d like to say to Dads everywhere on Father’s Day? Blessed indeed is the man who hears many gentle voices call him father!

Donald Webster, Executive Vice President, Controller and father to daughter, Tristian and 4 pets (although he states his wife and daughter really claim the pets more than he does).

How will you celebrate Father’s Day?  I plan to spend this Father’s Day by going to church with my extended Family and to brunch afterwards.  I generally have a fairly hectic schedule throughout the week, so I usually prefer to chillax on Father’s Day.

What is the best Father’s Day gift you have ever received?  I seriously can’t remember a best gift.  All of my Father’s Day gifts have been very special.  If I have to pick one it would probably be the first.  I don’t remember the actual gift but I do remember the essence of my emotions as I opened the gift and reflected on the significance of the day.

Is there anything you’d like to say to other Dads everywhere on Father’s Day?  I wish all fathers, who have ever been blessed to hear the gentle calls of “daddy”, a happy & joyous Father’s Day.

Edward Rutland, EVP, Managing Partner and father to three girls, five grandchildren and more than 50 plants.

How will you celebrate Father’s Day? I plan to spend the day with my wife, father-in-law and the family.

What is the best Father’s Day gift you have ever received? One year my three daughters flew to NY to be with me and take me out to dinner.

Wilton Wallace, Senior Associate and father to two sons and grandfather to one grandson and one grand-daughter.

How will you celebrate Father’s Day? Playing golf in Long Island.

What is the best Father’s Day gift you have ever received? Being able to have a great time with friends and family.

Is there anything you’d like to say to other Dads everywhere on Father’s DayI am proudest of my father status above all other accomplishment.

Greg Heydel, VP and Group Director, Reputation and father of two children, one grandchild and a soon-to-be grandchild, due in August!

How will you celebrate Father’s Day? I plan to have lunch with my father and mother and then have dinner with my daughter and grandson (and my son-in-law) — my wife Barbara is in both of those as well.  My son is in San Diego so we will miss him, but he probably will call.

What is the best Father’s Day gift you have ever received? I like to be with my family on Father’s day and that has been my best gift.

Is there anything you’d like to say to other Dads everywhere on Father’s Day? Children — and now grandchildren — will make you think young but feel old.

Also Happy Father’s Day to Reggie Hankerson, Samuel Orr and Kenny Anthony, all fathers to four-legged kids…although we get the feeling Reggie considers his wife to be the true parent of the Hankerson-household pet.

Happy Father’s Day to All!!!!

Matlock is so excited to have one of our own back in the mix!!!

Greg Heydel has returned to lead our Reputation and PR team after being gone for seven years. Greg was with us a total of eight years before leaving to do some different things.  We are pleased as punch to have him back with us and are so excited to see how he will continue to grow our Reputation practice.

He’s only been here a short time but already has some valued perspectives we’d like to share:

PerspectivesVP and Group Director - Reputation, Matlock Advertising and Public Relations on My Return

By Greg Heydel, VP & Group Director-Reputation

It is great to return to Matlock Advertising & Public Relations after being away for seven  years.  During my time away, I learned how to be an entrepreneur by starting my own company, a marketing communications consultancy, and being in local ministry with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.  I have a greater respect for Kent Matlock, and his ability to launch and sustain a company for 26 years.  Wow!  My business involved just me and running it for just a short period of time gave me a different perspective.

People have asked me how different things are at Matlock after being away seven years.  My answer is that some things have changed, but some things have remained the same.  The space is different being in a renovated building with a more “hip” (I’m old enough to use that term!) ambience.  Before, the agency’s space could have been mistaken for an accounting firm!  Also, I think being downtown in the midst of Georgia State and the students is dynamic.  Some of the things that have not changed – much – is a number of the same people are still here, although we all have put on a few years.  The standards are still high – definitely a good thing.  Many of the tools and processes which I helped develop “back when” are still being used, in better and improved forms.  And we still have some great clients to work with.

I’m glad to be back!
